Position overview
Morpheum is seeking two full time senior web developers with a minimum of three years web development experience to join a company driven by an inclusive and transparent culture, with amazing clients.
You will be part of an exciting team to produce highly usable, accessible and standards compliant web applications and websites.
You will be a team player, excellent communicator and have a desire to mentor junior developers in a mature and process-orientated environment. Any web design/development for the government sector will be highly regarded.
We see this role as suitable for someone who:
- has a strong understanding and working knowledge of W3C standards and semantic design
- is passionate and motivated about web standards, usability and accessibility
- is capable of writing semantic, CSS, and HTML markup by hand
- is committed and takes pride in the quality of their work
- likes to keep up to date with web best practice
Technology experience
Experience in each of the following:
- Web design patterns
- HTML, XHTML, CSS, (JavaScript experience would be an advantage)
- XML, XSLT
- Server-side development in ASP, PHP, ASP.NET, C#.NET
- SQL Server, SQL and database design
- IIS + Windows Server platform
- Familiarity with version control and release strategy
- Experience with the open source and / or mid to enterprise CMS market an advantage as well as some knowledge in Adobe Photoshop/Fireworks, Flash and Action Scripts would also be an advantage
Responsibilities
- Undertake work assigned by the Production Manager such that key product development milestones are delivered to the highest possible standards within the agreed time frames
- Initiate, plan, execute and control projects to meet requirements and schedules
- Lead and drive development projects to successfully implement web sites and web applications
- Introduce preventative measures when resolving production problems
- Apply knowledge of industry trends and developments to improve service to internal staff and clients
- Provide technical assistance and support through mentoring junior team members in appropriate areas to ensure quality
- Participate in code and database reviews
- Ensure, in consultation with the Production Manager that all relevant skills and knowledge are kept current, with particular focus on standards-based development and accessibility techniques
- Assist in implementing internal processes, best-practice methodologies, and building re-usable code libraries
- Assist project managers and sales team to create and execute project work plans/timings
- Management of own time to deadlines
- Execution of all development work in line with Morpheum's Quality Control processes and any industry standard processes adopted by the business, in particular, ensuring websites conform to Morpheum's adopted Accessibility conformance policy
- Provide appropriate feedback in relation to the work allocated to facilitate the effective utilisation of the technical team in relation to Morpheum's broader objectives
- Other Duties as directed by the Production Manager
